How to measure the Hotness of a Chili Pepper?
The Scoville scale is a measure of the 'hotness' of a chilli pepper or anything derived from chilli peppers, i.e. hot sauce. ...Abhi
Just a small piece of the hottest chilli of it can make you ill..!!!
The scale is named after Wilbur Scoville who developed the test in 1912, for more information see Measuring Chilli Heat.
The Carolina Reaper was tested at the Winthrop University in South Carolina over a 4 year period with many batches of pepper pods. The Average SHU nudged out the Butch T Trinidad Scorpion at 1,474,000 SHU. However, the Pod batches had a much tighter testing range of 200,000 SHU which results in the Hottest Peppeer you've ever grown in yor own back yard.
